This is sure to make some of you groan, or maybe not considering the post a couple of weeks ago about skipping Pigpen songs. But, there was a time I didn't really care for Pig songs except for Lovelight.
Back in the tape-in-the-mail days, I got a copy of 5/11/72 Rotterdam. Of course, being a new arrival I gave it a listen right away. But, being a long '72 show I didn't have time to finish it until the next day. So I'm driving to work listening to the rest of the show and on comes Two Souls In Communion. It completely opened my ears to Pigpen songs. Ones I heard many times before now sounded good to me.
Do yourself a favor and listen to this show. Especially Two Souls In Communion.

never been a huge fan of this song personally, it's really slow and just doesn't grab me. but i think i will give it another chance tonight, i haven't ever listened to it in a long time, or very intently, which could be the reason.

i need no excuse however, to listen to this show, it's one of the greatest of all time!!

And it helps to have an especialy good version. And 5/11 is that! I'm betting it ends up grabbing you.

I don't think anyone was saying they skip Two Souls or for that matter his blues standards. I think the songs in question were the ones where he is rapping like Good Lovin' and Lovelight. For me personally, Two Souls was his best original effort.

I agree . It is a very moving song . Part of it is the implied autobiographical, slat to it .
A guy who would like another chance . And, sadly , he didn't get it .
